Andrew reading

So as I mentioned in a previous post, Andrew is our little genius when it comes to letters, and now even reading. First he taught himself all his letters and the sounds they make (with a little help from the hooked on phonics cd), then I realized he knew how to WRITE all of his letters too (this was when he had just turned 3).

Now that he is about to be 4, he has been reading for at least the past 6 months. He isn't just reading "cat", "sat", "pat", but ENTIRE books! Of course, they are Dr. Seuss books, but still! Sometimes he needs a little bit of help sounding out a few words, but usually he reads it all by himself. I've done a little bit of hooked on Phonics with him only to encourage this little gift in him.

This picture perfectly describes his life right now - absolutely obsessed with reading. Usually, he is the first one to sleep on long trips (we were on our way to South Carolina), but reading is actually stimulating him! This is so neat to see how different all these boys are!

Usually with the scrabble cheezits, I look at the letters the boys have and give them words to try and spell. Here, Andrew is using his cheezits to spell words all by himself.

"Look, Mommy! I spelled Pickle!!"
