For about the last 6 months, Isaac has worn his Star Wars shirt and undies (both were gifts from Nana) and his jeans just about every day except Sundays.
I do my best to keep these items clean and dry for the days we have to go out (if we stay home, he usually wears his favorite pjs just about all day), but there have been days that it was VERY ready to be washed, but I still let him wear it simply to avoid a MAJOR battle.
He has also been dressing himself since last summer (before he even turned 2), so he goes into his room every morning and picks these out.
In fact, the last week at BSF he randomly chose to wear a different shirt and the teachers seriously didn’t recognize him at first!!
One time, I tried to substitute a different pair of jeans (the ones on the left ), and he threw them down. How does he know that the ones on the right are WAY cooler?
He started this clothes obsession at about 17 months of age, and began picking out his clothes and dressing himself before he turned 2, and now at 2 3/4, he is able to button his own dress shirts! He knows what he wants and goes after it!
His other obsession is “zip-up pjs.” He has 2 pairs and
wears them EVERY night. I try my best to make
sure they are always clean so I don’t have to deal with a monster at bed time because it truly is DREADFUL when he has to wear other pjs.
In fact, now that it started getting warm out, we had a few nights that I refused to let him wear these things, and it was SOOOO sad. Bedtime probably took an extra hour or more, and consisted of many spankings due to disrespect, hitting, kicking me, taking off the summer pjs, etc.
Although his behavior was totally uncalled for, I have to admit I felt really bad for him because I know how attached he is to his clothes, and he just feels so snuggly in his zip up pjs.
