During dinner Max was frustrated from all the noise and had Eva on his lap, but she was grabbing for stuff on the table, so he kind of yanked her away from the table and she started crying. She was obviously hurt by him and didn't even want to look at him, but it was time for bed, so I took her up and read to her and put her to bed. She was fine for a minute, but soon started screaming. She literally never does this anymore. She loves going to bed and getting her paci, and always lays right down. I thought it could be because she was still mad at Max, but wasn't sure. In the meantime I had to tuck in Miriam. The next thing I know, Max comes in and tells us this:
She was crying in her crib, laying on her back holding the paci. He picked her up and she threw her paci on the floor, he said "don't you want it?" she said "uh a" and looked away angrily. He drew her close and said, "I'm sorry, will you forgive me for yelling at you" and she nodded her head yes. They nuzzled noses, and she laid her head on him. He gave her her paci, and then she started looking him in the eye again. He sang and prayed, layed her down and she went right to sleep. She was mad at him and didn't want to go to sleep without reconciling.

We had Julia and Brady over for dinner, and Julia said something to Eva. Eva looked at her and said, "friends bring cookies".
3/2018 (2 years old)
I told James to get ready to leave, and he was taking his good ole time. Eva came over to me and said, "Mommy, you need to give Bubby a spanking!" She then walked over to James, who was laying on the floor and she leaned over him, pointed her finger at him, and said with an authoritative, mom-like voice, "Bubby, you say 'yes mam'!"

Max was changing Eva, and started singing "Softly, you whisper. . . " and she said, "EWWW!!", and Max laughed a little bit, and then started singing more, "you're so sincere, " and she said even more emphatically, "EWWWW!!" and then said, "why you sing dat song, Daddy?"
5/12/18
While Max was changing her, Eva said "I want powder Daddy" and he said, "you want powder? and she said, "mmhmm, powder on my belly" and he said "and powder on your butt?" and then she said, "mmhmm! (with a big smile). . . and powder on my penis!"

While Luke and Andrew were showing her a book on the potty with pictures, and she was trying to guess them, they came to a page with lots of toys on it. Luke and Andrew asked her if she knew where the monkey was. She pointed to it. Then Eva suddenly pointed to a picture of some toy elephants and said, "I know what dat is!!" really excitedly. Luke asked her, what is it, and Eva said "I don't knooow." You had to be there to really see how funny it was.
6/3/18
"Nobody! Come here!!" ( Instead of everybody- she has said this several times)
7/20/18
Miriam, James, Isaac and Eva were downstairs. Miriam asked Eva if she could have one of her saltine crackers. Miriam said, "if you give me a saltine cracker, I'll give you my brown and white stuffed puppy. Eva agreed. When Miriam gave her her puppy, she said, "Eva, what do you say?" Eva said, "Thank you Mir Mir for the delicious puppy!"
9/26/18
I said, "Why are you so cute?!" Eva at first said, "Noo!" (with a big smile and cute voice) and then changed it matter of factly to, "Yeah, I am."
1/4/2019
Bubs was talking to Eva and said, "Blippi has a vagina". Eva laughed and said, "NOOO!. . . Flippi's a man! He has a penis AND a gina!"
Also, Eva calls hummus "thomas"
1/24/19
(Miriam and Luke were in bed for fighting) Eva came downstairs and said, "Luke needs to tell HIS side of the story!" (in a real serious voice, obviously because Luke had told her to say this) I said, "I will, after I finish with Isaac's lesson. . ." So Andrew started explaining to Eva what I was trying to say, that I would eventually go up and listen. Eva listened, and then said, "NO, You're not the parent! I'M the parent, and Mommy's the parent, and Daddy's the parent!"
5/13/19 Eva says cute things literally every day, but its hard to capture how cute it is without having it on video. We wish we could bottle up this cuteness and keep it forever, because we know how quickly this stage passes. Just now, she said, (while holding a pair of baby shoes) "These aren't for me, these are for a baby, but these shoes (pointing to her new tennis shoes she was wearing) are kids size". I said, "yes, you're right. Are you a baby or a kid?" She said, "I'm a kid". I said, "well I like when you're my baby, can you still be my baby?" She said, "No. . . I'm not your baby, I'm your boss!"

While at dinner, someone was asking why we wouldn't go to church on Sunday, and Eva chimed in and said, "Or else we would get the coronavirus!"
3/19/20
This morning, Eva asked Max, "Do you know who Brooklynn and Kenzlee are?" He said yes.
"Well, they're my two best friends.. . . And they're my cousins."
5/29/20
While I was cutting the grass, Eva said, "Mommy, look. The grass is really short!" A minute later she said, "Hey, I have an idea! We should do this every time the grass gets long!"
6/29/20
Yesterday Eva missed out on having fruit pizza because she wasn't good at church. I told her if there was any left, then she could have a little piece tomorrow. Just now, holding the fruit pizza with a big smile, she said, "Mommy, can I have this? You said I could have some tomorrow, and today is tomorrow."
7/31/20
Eva was singing "His Mercy is More" and then said, "We need to sin for God. That's what the song says." I said, "sing for God?" and she said, "no, SIN for God".
7/31/20
After taking a bath all by herself the other day, Eva told me she wanted to go take one by herself again and then said, "Mommy I don't need you anymore. . . except for cooking." :(
7/31/20
One morning, I took a banana out of the fridge that was brown. Eva thought it looked pretty gross and said, "Ew, that banana is yucky!". I told her that actually when you put bananas in the fridge, the skin turns brown, but the inside actually still tastes good. I went on to explain that its kind of like people- its what is on the inside that counts. Its not about how we look, or the clothes we wear, but how we act, and treat people, blah, blah, blah. After my whole "lesson" I was trying to teach her, she said something like this, "So we just want everyone to have white skin, right?"
3/23/22
I told Eva to turn off her light in her room and she said excitedly, "ok! I'm going to obey!", Then quietly said " because I had a dream last night that I was the most perfect one in the family."
7/22/22
Mommy, we were doing gymnastics and it turns out, me and Miriam are really bendable!
7/29/22
Miriam was really sad that she disqualified her relay team with a false start, so they didn't get a medal, and Eva said, "I wish I could give her mine." ♥️
1/19/23
I was praying with bubs and Eva today and I prayed that God would protect bubs at his field trip and then I said amen and Eva said Daddy you didn't pray for me so I prayed for her specifically and in my prayer, I opened up by saying, "Lord, lil bubba Eva's not going on a field trip today but we pray that you would protect her at school and help her to have a good day at school and bring her home safely", and when I finish my prayer, Eva said, "Daddy, God already knows that I'm not going on a field trip today... you didn't need to tell him that cuz he knows everything!"
